Ever Used Solid Lotion Bars?
Lotion bars, simply, are solid lotion that you glide over your skin. Lotion bars leave a protective layer that locks in moisture.
Mrs. M’s Handmade’s lotion bars contain 3 natural ingredients: beeswax, Shea butter and rice bran oil. Since they contain no water there is no need for a preservative!
This balance of ingredients offers the perfect solution for extremely dry areas such as heels, elbows and knees. They work beautifully on hands to protect and heal from the drying effect of soaps due to frequent hand washing. Great for delicate neck and upper chest to minimize signs of aging!
The best way to lock in moisture is to apply after a bath or shower when the outer layer of your skin has been well hydrated. Another option that will provide quicker relief from dry cracked heels is to wrap your feet or hands with warm moist towels for 10 minutes, remove and apply the lotion bar immediately. In colder weather it may be necessary to hold it between your hands for a minute to allow the bar to soften.
We offer a variety of scents that change with the seasons. We have unscented bars for those scentsitive individuals!
Beeswax– produced by bees to make honey comb. Reduces inflammation, softens skin, and has antioxidant properties
Beeswax locks in moisture, nourishes cells (Vitamin A), and protects skin from the damaging environment. Beeswax effectively softens skin and creates a long-lasting protective coating against the elements. Beeswax’s anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-allergenic, and antioxidant properties make it beneficial for wound healing and certain skin conditions.
Shea butter- from the nut of the African Shea Tree
Shea butter contains many saturated fatty acids that give it anti-inflammatory properties (palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid linoleic acid). Shea butter can reduce irritation and redness, protect skin, regenerate cells, heal wounds and moisturize skin. Shea butter contains a lot of Vitamin E that acts as a natural antioxidant for your skin and the butter, so it’s softening to our skin. It contains at least 8 compounds which offer anti-bacterial properties. The butter contains cinnamic acid esters that provide a low degree of UV protection. The allantoin it contains is a barrier ingredient to prevent and protect chafed, chapped, cracked skin. Oleic acid offers moisturizing, regenerating, anti-inflammatory, and softening properties and is easily absorbed by the skin. Stearic acid offers improved moisture retention, improved elasticity and skin repair.
Shea butter melts at body temperature and is absorbed quickly by the skin.
Rice bran oil
Rice bran oil is able to deeply penetrate into skin’s layers, nourishing it from within, making your skin very soft and velvety.
This light oil extracted from the hard outer layer of brown rice helps reduce itching and inflammation in the skin and reduces signs of skin aging. It has loads of Vitamin E anti-oxidant power. Rice bran oil contains oryzanol, a phytosterol unique to this oil which is a mixture of ferulic acid ester or sterols and triterpene alcohols. Ferulic acid is a very effective antioxidant, and the oryzanol been shown to be a more effective anti-oxidant than Vitamin E.
